Surya Namaskara – Sun Salutation

 

Greeting the Day – A sequence to ground you by helping you feel connected to the earth through your feet, like roots anchored to the earth, while your breath awakens you to shine. Gratitude for the sun rising to give you life.

 

Low lunge

Step right foot forward w Left knee on the ground w Inhale (align ankle and knee)

Step left foot forward to meet right: Exhale

Half way lift Inhale

Forward Fold Exhale

Tadasana Inhale

Raise arms and on the exhale w Bring your hands in front of the heart in Anjali mudra (palms pressed together in prayer) Pause for one breath to feel

Tadasana

Reach arms wide and above as you inhale

Forward Fold Exhale

Halfway lift Inhale

Step right foot back to bring your knee to the ground and leftfoot forward (align ankle and knee), still on inhale breath

Down dog Exhale as you step back to down dog (long exhale)

Child’s pose (knees wide or knees together)

Repeat the above sequence starting with low lunge

Bring this practice to a close with:

Dragonfly pose 2 minutes

Knees to chest 30 seconds to 1 minute

Corpse pose (Savasana) 5-10 minutes
